I like how this verse was written in New Living
Translation: Luke 11:36 "If you are filled with light, with no dark
corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were
filling you with light."
What came to my mind when i read "floodlight"
was sort of a forceful light. Like the lights they use on a movie or
photography set. Or better -- the lights they use on a football field.
Floodlights could be so strong that the entire place could look as though the
sun was shining brightly at midnight.
For me, it is how God shines His light upon His children.
His light is so strong that it reveals every corner of our lives, reveals every
depravity, every sin. It's like in a movie where a prisoner would try to
escape and yet caught by that moving spotlight. That prisoner would have no
choice but to surrender. It kind of how God would deal with me as I start my
prayer with "search me and know my heart... (Psalm 139:23-24)." He
would reveal anything in me that isn't right with Him so that I could surrender
them unto His feet and repent.
Another is that God's light radiates so brightly that it
attracts. I've seen people who reflect God's love so much through their words
and actions that it is obvious they have Christ in their lives. You'd know
something about them is different. Their eyes and smile glow with indescribable
joy and hope. And I find that very encouraging.
May the light of the Lord undeniably shine like a
floodlight in our lives! Amen!
